Meet Our Staff

  289Mrs. Christine Page – Director

Ms. Christine has been in the Virginia Hills Baptist Church community for over 20 years, including being the preschool’s director since 2010 and four years as the church/preschool administrative assistant.  Born and raised in Alexandria, she has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management/Finance from Virginia Tech, and recently earned her Master’s of Education in Early Childhood Education from LIberty University.   Married to Eddie, they have two adult sons.  Her “loves” include Christ, children and spending time with family and friends.

Ms. Kim – Office Administrator
Also a native of northern Virginia, Ms. Kim, a graduate of Catholic University, joins us after working as a paralegal and litigation specialist in DC for 13 years.  She has co-oped for our school since 2012 and joined out staff in 2015.
0258Mr. Michael – Music & Movement Teacher

Mr. Michael was born and raised in Alexandria.  A graduate of Christopher Newport University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater Studies and a Minor in Dance, he couples this experience with a variety of experiences working with children.  He has choreographed and directed several children’s shows at Aldersgate Community Church Theatre and has taught summer camps at the Little Theater of Alexandria, as well as our very own Drama Camp here at Virginia Hills.  Mr. Michael loves to inspire children to a love for acting, music and dance.

269Ms. Chris – Beforecare Administrator
 For more than 30 years, Ms. Chris has been a part of the VHBC Preschool community.  She began her career in the co-op program, followed by assistant teacher, and ultimately becoming the Panda Class teacher, a position she has held for 25+ years.  Married for 44 years with three children and two grandchildren, (and one on the way!)   Ms. Chris, a Pennsylvania native, enjoys cross stitching and walking.
Ms. Sofia – Aftercare Administrator
Born and raised in South Africa, Ms. Sofia is in her seventh year with VHBC Preschool.  First as a Puppy Teacher, now in administration. This follows a 10 year career as an Au Pair.  For more than 20 years, she has been working with children from birth to age five.
Ms. Alison – Puppy Teacher
Ms. Alison is an native Alexandrian, graduating from Hayfield Secondary after gaining experience in their ‘Little Hawks’ preschool training program.  After interning with VHBC, she spent a few years with 3 year olds, and is in her 2nd year with the 1 year olds.  She has a daughter that attends our preschool with her.  
Ms. Sophie – Assistant Puppy Teacher
Ms. Sophie returned to us in January 2018 after a few years away.  She is a DC area native growing up in Annandale.  She has studied early education at NVCC.  She has 2 girls, one being a preschool attendee, and enjoys spinning yarn and knitting. 
285Ms. Vicky – Teddybear Teacher
Ms. Vicky begins her seventh year at VHBC, fifth as the lead teacher in the Teddy Bear Class.  She has been involved in VHBC Preschool for a number of years now, having children that have graduated from our preschool. She has been a nanny for over 18 years which included working with children of all ages, and special needs.  She has a profound love and compassion for kids and is displayed in her enjoyment of not only nurturing and teaching them, but also to learn from and understand them.
Ms. Valerie – Assistant Teddybear Teacher
Ms. Valerie is back for her 2nd year at VHBC Preschool.  She is a native Alexandrian, and recently one of her daughters graduated Pre-K at VHBC and her other daughter still attends.  She is currently working toward her Bachelor’s Degree.  She enjoys all crafts, and exercise.  
265Ms. Cheryl – Frog Teacher
For over 30 years, Ms. Cheryl has been working with children.  She began her career at VHBC Preschool 21 years ago as an assistant teacher, and has been the lead teacher in the Frog Class since 2005.  Prior to our preschool, Ms. Cheryl was an in-home day care provider.  Originally from Michigan, Ms. Cheryl is married with two grown sons and a college aged daughter.  She enjoys reading, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.
0263Ms. Francesca – Assistant Frog Teacher
While Italy is home to Ms. Francesca, she has been in the United States for 20 years, but travels back each summer to visit family and friends.  Her degree is an Italian Education Degree, and is joining the education community again after being home raising her 3 children.  She enjoys the beach and long walks with her dog.  She is also enjoying new adventures with her children and husband.
291Ms. Sue – Ladybug Teacher
Ms. Sue brings her wealth of experience of working with children having 4 grown sons, and 5 grandchildren, being involved with Scouts, PTA, swim and dive, and a variety of other activities for children and youth.  She was a faithful substitute for our preschool and is now in her seventh year at VHBC Preschool.
Ms. Joyce – Assistant Ladybug Teacher
Ms. Joyce is native to the Phillippines where she was born and raised.  She received a two year degree in Midwifery.  She is now the mom of 2 girls with her husband who works at the State Department.  In her free time, she enjoys cooking and cross stitch.  
Ms. Jenn – Owl Teacher 
Ms. Jenn has been working with children ages 2-3 as a preschool teacher for more than ten years.      She has two children, ages 14 and 11.  She is certified in Early Education from Liberty University.  In her free time, she loves reading and photography.
Ms. Irina – Assistant Owl Teacher
Ms. Irina joined the staff in 2016 after co-oping for a few years.  Born in Armenia, she received her Master’s Degree in Russian Language and Literature and also holds a nursing degree.  She has been in Alexandria since 2004 where she keeps busy with her daughter’s activities including scouts, swim team and dance.
0255Ms. Komal – Dinosaur Teacher
Although she began her career as a flight attendant, Ms. Komal’s desire to work with children led her to a teaching career.  She has been with VHBC Preschool since 2007.  Married with two boys. Ms. Komal earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1996 from Karachi/Pakistan
Ms. Ofa – Assistant Dinosaur Teacher
Ms. Ofa was born in Tonga.  She has been working with children since 1993.  She has three children of her own, is a parent volunteer at her children’s school and has been with VHBC since 2011.
281Ms. Christabell – Giraffe Teacher
Ms. Christabell has been with VHBC since 2014. She holds her Bachelor’s Degree in Education.  She is entering her second year in Pre-K, previously working with our 3 year old program.  She has been teaching since 1999.
270Ms. Diane – Assistant Giraffe Teacher
Ms. Diane has been involved in VHBC Preschool for 7 plus years, first as a parent, then a co-op and joined our staff in 2014.  She has been married for 12 years with 3 children, all of who graduated VHBC Preschool.  She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Cornell University and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from University of Delaware.  When not at school, she volunteers at the St. Louis Catholic School and is actively involved in Cub Scouts, baseball, swimming, and coaching girl’s softball.
Ms. Candice – Monkey Teacher
Ms. Candice returns after joining our team in 2017.  She is a mom of two sons, both graduating from VHBC Preschool. She earned a Bachelors of Art Degree in Communication and Public Relations from Kutztown University.  She adds to our team a wealth of preschool experience as a teacher as well as assistant director.  Her hobbies include sewing and cooking.  
Ms. Grace – Assistant Monkey Teacher
Ms. Grace joined us in 2017.  She holds her Bachelor’s Degree from Brigham Young University and been working in childcare since 2014.  She is a Military Wife.
Ms. Leilani – Penguin Teacher
Ms. Leilani joined our program as a staff member in 2016 after co-oping in our program for 4 years and serving as a nanny for 7 years.  Her post secondary studies were placed on hold to start her family, however, she is currently seeking her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education at Liberty University.   As a mom of 3, she is able to participate in her love of camping and fishing with her family.
Ms. Sook – Assistant Penguin Teacher
Ms. Sook originates from Singapore. She joins us for her 2nd year with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She is the winner of several Kindercare awards. She brings more than 18 years of childcare experience.  
Ms. Carla – Butterfly Teacher
Ms. Carla  has been a VHBC member for 33 years and is currently serving as a deaconess and Sunday School teacher.  Raised in PA, she graduated from Shippensburg U. and moved to this area in 1973.  She was a Pre-K teacher here at VHBC from 1983-1992.  During that time her two sons went through the preschool.  As they moved on to elementary school, Carla did the same.  She was a first grade/Reading Recovery teacher at Rose Hill Elementary for 22 years, retiring in 2014.  Soon after, she returned to VHBC to do weekly Bible stories/songs with all the children.  Now she has made full circle, as she is excited to again be working with Pre-K children.  Carla has a deep love for children and is honored to guide and direct them in their learning about Christ and the world around them.
Ms. Brittany – Inclusion Assistant
Ms. Brittany joined VHBC Preschool in 2018.  She has 2 girls, one being a VHBC Preschool graduate.  She is active in Girl Scouts, and in her girls extra curricular activities.  She enjoys cooking, running, music and crafts.  
Ms. Kim – Floater
Ms. Kim is a long time VHBC church member, and has been with the preschool since 2014.  She grew up in northern Virginia graduating from Edison High School.  She assists in all areas of the preschool.
